Provenance: although not marked as such, this copy is from the library of Michael Shaw of Curtis Brown, who succeeded Graham Watson as Thesiger's agent in about 1980. Original black cloth with gilt lettering to spine and board. Clear, removable, archival protective sleeve fitted to dust-jacket. Quarto. pp. 176, monochrome photographic illustrations, one colour printed folding map after Thesiger tipped onto lower pastedown. This is the first edition of Thesiger's travel classic 'Arabian Sands' to be illustrated with his photographs and prefaced with a new introduction.
