FIRST English and LIMITED Large Paper Edition, numbered '183' of only 315 copies, of which 300 were for sale. Publisher's brown buckram boards 54 br. O, dark brown pigskin spine, single gilt rules along leather edges, gilt lettering to spine, top edge gilt and green and yellow head and tail bands. Printed on white wove paper, watermarked and with the top edge trimmed. Quarto. 26 x 20 cm: [A]8 B-Z8 AA-EE8, 224 leaves, pp. [1-2] [1-2] 3-448. With 19 plates printed on one side only. Tissue guards before each colour plate. Fold map tipped in before rear free endpaper, complete with tissue guard.
Condition
A book in Near Fine condition in a Very Good indeed dust-jacket with a few short repaired edge tears, a small loss to top edge of rear panel, and fading of red ink to spine, but which is not price-clipped. Uncommon in this condition.
